Toronto Hydro Goes Mobile

In October 2018, Toronto Hydro went live with a new ERP system, ‘Enterprise Connect’, an SAP-based suite of applications that replaced a 16-year old legacy system and 31 custom applications to more effectively serve its 768,000 electric customers. This included various modules including Finance, HR, Success Factors, Payroll, Materials Management, Project & Portfolio Management, Project Systems, Plant Maintenance and more.
Within the ‘Engineering & Construction’ and ‘Electric Operations, Procurement & Customer Care’ divisions, SAP’s Multi-Resource Scheduling module and SAP Work Manager application was deployed to more than 400 internal Toronto Hydro staff and external contractors to move crewperson work result details from paper to mobile, and allow equipment updates, maintenance inspection results & time entry submissions electronically throughout the workday. During the SAP for Utilities Conference 2019 in San Diego, CA, USA, Toronto Hydro and the implementation partner, Evora IT Solutions delivered a joint session. The speakers described the solution components, key business benefits, and lessons learned throughout the journey. The session also included a system demonstration of the SAP Work Manager 6.4 mobile application with its key enhancements.
