Empowering field workers with mobile solutions

Status Quo

Frontline workers are essential for operation because they are the ones directly involved in the core, day-to-day tasks that keep the business running. They handle criticle responsibilities like operating machinery, performing maintenance and ensuring safety and efficiency. However, despite their crucial role, these workers often face difficulties when it comes to adopting digital tools meant to streamline their tasks. This is largely due to a misalignment between the developers and the actual conditions faced by frontline workers.

To me the biggest challenge facing the workforce is that the providers and the implementers don’t always fully appreciate or understand the environment that the frontline works in or the mentality of the worker. The frontline’s focus is on installing equipment, repairing the broken machine, putting a pipe in the grounds, whatever it is they’re wrench turning work. The mobile application that they use is just a tool that they have to have to do their job. But they don’t really understand the technology behind it. They don’t want to understand the technology. It’s not that they can’t, it’s just their focus is on doing the job that they’re going out to do and the app, device, and technology is really secondary.

In our experience, it is very beneficial to conduct training sessions on the use of mobile applications. This allows for questions to be asked, users to exchange ideas directly, and lively discussions to emerge.

Challenges and solutions

When companies deploy new field service and asset management solutions, they face obstacles like user resistance,  non-standardized processes, and limited resources. The technology solutions frequently don’t match the workers` specific needs or work enviroments like outdoor settings, factory floors, or confined spaces.

That’s why Evora offers mobile solutions tailored to the daily needs of maintenance personnel. They faciliate seamless work order execution, improve stability and boost user adoption through synchronization speed. These offerings include employee scheduling and mobile apps that support the entire maintenance process, addressing obstacles to process automation and providing superior experiences for both customers and employees.
